Challenge: To create an online Symptom Checker tool that differentiated itself from competitors, such as WebMD and Mayo Clinic.
Solution: I worked with a product manager, designer, developers, physician, and team of editors to create a video-based Symptom Checker, which takes users through an emergency room intake interview in real time. (Competitors’ Symptom Checkers all used static text or clickable illustrations of the body with related text.) I was responsible for ensuring that the copy and related content matched up with the symptoms and conditions displayed on the site pages.
Results: The Everyday Health Symptom Checker was the first on the web to use video. When I worked at Everyday Health, it was regularly in the top five most visited tools on the site and was lauded for its accuracy by both users and the media.
